So it has been a few weeks since we updated this website...so bad! We haven't even been all that busy, but somehow Jon broke our wireless router so we have been lazy and not logging in much from home. Anyway Thanksgiving was good. Drove 6 hours to Scottsdale, AZ from Santa Monica. We were very excited to see all the sights along the way there...I kept telling everyone at work that we were driving, because we wanted to see everything along the way. No one told me that there was absolutely NOTHING but Desert for about 5 hours. It was the absolute most boring ride I have ever been on in my life...and we have been on some big road trips...
Once we finally got to Scottsdale though it was great, good food, great weather, good family time. We hit up a new shopping area in Scottsdale, went to the trendy Pink Taco (of Las Vegas and Jenna Federer fame).
We headed back to Santa Monica on Saturday, stopped at these "famous" outlets in Palm Springs on the way back. BAD IDEA. It was Saturday after Thanksgiving and I think every person in Palm Springs was there...we couldn't even get into some of the stores because there were lines like 50 people deep just to get in...probably a good thing for me though cuz they had some awesome stores - Dolce Gabbana, Tod's, Coach, Cole Haan, and all these other pretty high end stores...it is actually pretty sad because even at the outlet we couldn't afford anything.
Finally we got back to Cali...found our great new Taco place, Tito's in Culver City. This I guess is going to have to replace Taqueria Mexico while we are out here! The rest of the weekend we just hung out and recovered from the Holiday.
This past weekend we had a holiday event on our street, so all the shops have open houses with drinks and snacks...so pretty much we just patrolled the street going into the shops that were giving away free alcohol. That was a good time. Jon abondoned me for a while so I looked like a loser drinking by myself in a high end dog store...
The next day we went and explored Malibu. We headed up the PCH and drove through some of the mountains to look at the devastation from the Fires. It was really sad - all of the vegetation was completely charred and burned, we also saw a church near Pepperdine that burned to the ground...I hadn't realized how close to us this was, luckily we didn't get affected at all.
After that we decided to head to this outdoor mall - my cousin Doris' husband Josh (the crazy photographer from our wedding) is going to be working at this mall - Malibu Country Mart opening a new denim store. He is the creative mind behind the layout...way cool, hopefully we'll get invited to the opening of the store (hint hint).
Then on Saturday night we decided to stop at this Mexican place near our house to catch the end of the UCLA/USC Game (btw College Football is all the rage out here AND they all hate the Patriots!) So one Margarita turned into 2.5 pitchers between the two of us - was not a pretty night. We ended up hanging out with this older group of people - all super trendy but in their 50's and 60's - I commented on one guys jacket and then we ended up talking with them for a while. Turns out one of the guys, Vic, is the owner of Houston's Restaurants...so that was fun. Apparently Houston's in Fanueil Hall is the highest rent for all Houston's in the country...fun fact...is that they will never break even there - who would've thought! Anyway these guys were way cool. Hooked us up with more margaritas (like we needed them), all have BIG Bucks from what we were told by our buddy Don - we don't know what everyone else did, but they were fun!
So Monday morning Jon headed to Boston for training. This week has been pretty quiet, weather has been great, high 70's to 80's and very sunny. The big scoop out here are the major "swells". Apparently some storm from Oregon/Washington is creating these humungous 20+ foot waves... The surfers are loving it. I guess this happens very rarely. Surfers from Australia and New Zealand have been flying in all week just to get out there. That is pretty cool I guess, too bad I don't surf.
Saturday night we are going to this Christian Bale Movie Marathon...this theatre on our street, Aero Theatre has actors come in and discuss their films and their lives with the patrons, so we bought tickets to see Christian Bale. We get see the 3:10 to Yuma, his new movie about Bob Dylan, Batman Begins and American Psycho and then in between the first 2 films Christian Bale will come in and talk to the audience. Pretty cool I think. I love him and think he is a great actor, so I'm excited. I am sure Jon will have some weird question to ask him (kind of like when met the Brian from Guster, how embarassing!)
Anyway we'll be sure to update with the recap of the event next week!
Adios Amigos
PS - Mr. Anonymous...although we greatly appreciate you being the sole reader/commenter of our blog, we do not like your tone very much. Could you lighten up a bit, we are trying - we're just not that funny or interesting.

There's a Pink Taco store??? How come Jon neglected to share this with me when we spoke? Anyway, sounds like you've had a fun few weeks. Much better than ours with the cold, snow, and vandalized car sitting in our driveway to remind us of the mean people in this world :(
Have a great weekend, and we're looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks!
