Friday night we made our first official weekend night in Hollywood. It is SO overwhelming to go to Hollywood if you don't know where you're going. We went out to dinner on the Sunset Strip to quaint little restaurant called Cravings. Dinner was good, pretty uneventful - but yummy! We explored the strip a little - checked out Ketchup made famous by our friends LC and Heidi on the Hills. It was pretty unimpressive. Simple decor, trying to be all trendy, but missing something! We then headed down the strip - towards The Viper Room and Roxy, we ended up at some dive bar called Red Rock. It was actually pretty fun, however Sarah and I were a little too overdressed to stay there all night. We decided to make the night a bar crawl and went to a local martini bar that has been around for a while. This place was a little strange - weird crowd...we didn't love the vibe but if you want to get wasted Lola's is the place to go. I ordered some crazy martini that Sarah would not even let me drink...she said it smelled like lighter fluid - and then after she finished her espresso martini proceed to chug my lighter fluid...those who know Sarah well would be impressed that she remained awake the entire night (even after the lighter fluid)! After Lola's we met up with my friend from college Katie Matthews. Katie has been in LA about 5 years or so now and knows the right people to get into some pretty cool places. She was able to get us into Teddy's in the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard. It was a lot of fun in there...Jon didn't love it, but I did. Great fun music - including Funkytown! After Teddy's we did something really bad and stopped at In 'n Out Burger for 1 Double Double, and two Cheeseburgers animal style at 2 in the morning. Advice to all - when you are almost 30 eating this food at 2 in the morning is no longer a good idea! Needless to say Friday was an adventure and I would say successful first night out in Hollywood! Saturday started off pretty slow...although we had to get in gear pretty quickly. Jon was meeting friends in Manhattan Beach to watch football and Sarah and I were going to shop until the Pat Game. So we finally headed out about 1:30 and was about 3 tenths of a mile away from the dropping Jon at the bar when I saw an insane amount of Paparazzi. It was nuts, like 25 or 30 guys, cameras, & videos. They were horrible. We couldn't make out who the star was but they were hoarding this person and not letting them into the store. Our car was at a standstill and finally whoever it was got into the store and they slammed the door on the Paparazzi. They continued to go nuts snapping pictures and lining all the windows of the store. I have never seen anything like it. Jon was mad cuz he was already late and traffic wasn't moving so he got out and walked to the bar. On the way he stopped to see who it was they were going nuts over - someone said Avril Lavigne. So sad...if they were going that crazy for Avril then Sarah and I decided we would never read USWeekly again. It was horrible. Well much to my amazement, this AM I woke up and checked out TMZ (so much for not reading celebrity gossip)to see if there were any shots of Avril at the store. However, instead of Avril shopping in Manhattan Beach it was the one and only BRITNEY. OH MY GOD. How could we have not seen her! The insanity made a whole lot more sense when we found out it was Britney Spears...apparently she was out for the day w/ her bodyguard/boyfriend Adnan. See the (search January 13th - Adnan) video from TMZ ...we were seriously right in front of the street when this was going on!

After a nice lunch and walk on the pier,Sarah and I headed to the Shark's Cove to get a seat for the Pats Game. As we were waiting for a table to clear - I noticed the maitre'd go to a table and move the patrons to a better table. Upon second glance I realized it was non other than Nomah and Mia! They live in Manhattan Beach and were at the bar with some friends to watch the games! They were cool, just hanging out! We didn't chat with them, but of course when I told Jon he jumped up and almost ran right over...but he actually did remain cool! I am very proud of him! He is growing up! Anyway, we had a great time at the bar, hit up Wahoo's for some fish taco's and then brought Sarah to the airport! We had a lot of fun, in a short time! Can't wait for next visitors the Brother's Brooks in a few weeks! I am nervous for safety of my cute little apartment, but hopefully they've mellowed out in their old age!
Have a great Monday everyone!

WOW Kate, WOW. I am blown away by the cool blog posting. your stream of consciousness blows me away. I feel like I was there, especially when Jon gets mad cuz we all know how mad he gets when he has to wait for the paparazzo. I cannot wait to see what LA is like and the Brooks Bros. will certainly and absolutely treat la casa de trannie with the kindness and respect that it deserves. I hope we do not see Britney out partying because she is pregnant again and that is not right.
I arrive Thursday evening and will subsequently drop off my rental car the Hertz in Santa Monica. Ed arrives on Thursday afternoon and will no doubt leave his mark on your fine city by the time I get there.
toodles!
